The Senior Product Manager for Pole Inspection and Treatment will work under the direction Sr Director of Wood Portfolio Infrastructure. This role is responsible for the research, engineering, and technical development for bringing new products to market while maintaining existing wood-related products. The Product Manager will ensure that the necessary internal resources, tools, and processes exist to support the growth of new products or services. Please note that this position involves tangible product development.

This role does not involve software or technology development.

This position is an in-office role with an option to work from our Peachtree City or Downtown Atlanta office. Some travel to our lab location is required.

Responsibilities:

Research and Development:

  • Participate in the process of generating new ideas for wood-related products and services that align with the company’s goals and growth strategy.
  • Evaluate products and services to ensure that a viable business case exists. Perform market analysis to ensure that revenue targets are achievable.
  • Create training and implementation plans.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure successful integration of products and services into the business.
  • Work with engineering and technical resources to create clear and effective technical specifications for the product or service.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, and Contracts teams to implement new product specifications, update existing specifications, and develop project proposals.
  • Contribute to other projects and plans, not specifically noted, to ensure the Company reaches its financial objectives.

Sales and Presentation:

  • Customer facing role. Must be able to provide subject matter expertise on assigned products and services. Support sales efforts at all levels and ensure the creation of winning proposals.
  • Develop business plans to justify startup costs and present the strategy to senior management to obtain support and approvals needed to move projects forward.
  • Develop partnerships that support the success of new and existing products/services.
  • Attend industry events, participate in trade groups, and deliver presentations that support product and service strategies.
  • Develop and train the organization to effectively sell and deliver the product or service. Create documentation and references to ensure consistent and effective training practices.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering. Experience studying Wood Science, Environmental Science, or Forestry is preferred.
  2. MBA in Business is a plus.
  3. 3-5 years of experience in product management and successfully launching products.
  4. The ability to interpret engineering drawings and illustrations (ex. AutoCAD).
  5. Experience in the electric and/or telecom utility space is preferred.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to write technical documents using proper style and grammar.
  7. Ability to work cross-functionally with teams including Business Development, Operations, Software Development, Senior Management, etc.
  8. Willingness to travel occasionally and work varied hours to achieve desired results. Some field/lab work may be required.
