Tool Management and Operations Support Specialist

The Operational Tool and Process Improvement Support Specialist plays a key role in advancing operational excellence across Osmose's field services. While this role is less field-based than previous iterations, it remains fully field-focused — leading the identification, design, and implementation of innovative tooling and equipment solutions to enhance field safety, efficiency, and productivity. The Specialist collaborates with internal teams, pilots new concepts, and drives improvements that support the evolving needs of services such as Pole Restoration, Pole Inspection and Treatment, Auxiliary Services, Steel Structure Services, and Technical Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the development and continuous improvement of tools, equipment, and processes used in field operations.
  • Serve as the primary driver of tooling initiatives that enhance field capabilities, focusing on safety, ergonomics, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with field personnel, engineering, and vendors to design, test, and evaluate new or modified tools.
  • Oversee and participate in pilot programs and trials of tooling innovations and process changes.
  • Create detailed documentation including user guides, SOPs, and training materials to support new tool deployment.
  • Provide training and technical support for the rollout of new or improved tools.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships for tooling procurement, customization, or troubleshooting.
  • Participate in research, testing, and evaluation of materials or alternate solutions as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage project timelines, resources, and milestones related to tooling and process initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic planning within the Operations Support team and represent the function on the CSC – Tools, Equipment, and PPE Subcommittee.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovative problem-solving across the field organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in field-oriented work.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Creative, hands-on mindset with the ability to design, fabricate, or refine field tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interface with users across functions and levels.
  • A collaborative, approachable, and team-focused professional style.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 50% (primarily within the U.S., with occasional international travel possible).
  • Self-driven and flexible with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
