Summary

Assist foreman with pole inspection and treatment, pole restoration, and other utility field crew service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate in a safe and efficient manner utilizing all required safety equipment (hard had, safety vest, work boots, etc.)
• Hands-on wood pole inspection including digging, sounding, drilling, measuring, and treating (apply wood preservatives using a variety of hand tools (such as shovels, hammers, drills, etc.)
• Utilize equipment to excavate ground material around utility poles.
• Must achieve and maintain acceptable levels of productivity and quality of work based on job norm and in comparison, to fellow employees.
• Operate company vehicle - 4x4, and side-by-side vehicles (if applicable and qualified). Travelling to and working in a variety of settings, from urban to remote
• Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by the Foreman and following the guidelines and instructions from your supervisors and/or managers.

Education and/or Experience

No prior experience or training.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Prior to operating a vehicle, must successfully complete the Osmose Driver Qualification Program. In addition, to be eligible to operate any company vehicle, the employee must possess a valid driver's license.

Other Qualifications

Must possess flexibility in being willing to travel away from home for short and extended periods to various job locations when necessary. Must maintain a consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Saturday. Must comply with the Osmose Policy for a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.

Travel

Varies by customer and/or location and can include frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel throughout one or more states. Extended work weeks and additional hours are probable during peak work periods or for specific jobs. Must maintain consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Friday and sometimes weekends as needed.
