The Product Engineer/Scientist will work under the direction Sr. Manager – Chemical Products and is responsible for research, engineering, and technical development for bringing new products to market while maintaining existing products. The Product Engineer ensures that the necessary internal resources, tools and processes exist to support and grow the product and/or service. This position will work between our Atlanta and Peachtree Coty offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop expertise in the area of wood protection and supplemental wood preservation that help establish and maintain Osmose’s leadership in the electric and telecom utility industry.
  • Assist with the development of new products, services and solutions (both enhancements to existing products as well as development of new products and services) for protection and mitigation of wood and other material types.
  • Support the Product Management Team in setting up and managing research and development projects. This includes, but is not limited to, field installations, data collection, monitoring, reporting, and presenting finding.
  • Perform laboratory experiments and tests to develop and optimize wood treatment processes, utilizing analytical skills and experience with instruments such as GC, GC-MS, ICP, HPLC, etc.
  • Utilize analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of wood preservation methods and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee planning, execution, and completion of wood preservation projects.
  • Analyze complex data and prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the organization and closely work with team members.
  • Travel within the United States for field testing and project implementation.
  • Develop expertise in the area of wood protection and supplemental wood preservation to establish and maintain Osmose’s leadership in the electric and telecom utility industry.
  • Support manufacturer vendor-based activities to ensure quality products and equipment are available to Osmose crews and customers.
  • Assist manufacturers and OUS supply chain by coordinating packaging requirements of finished products and equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a relevant industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, and experience with instruments such as GC, GC-MS, ICP, HPLC, etc.
  • Knowledge of wood chemistry and wood preservation methods.
  • Experience with biocide applications in wood treatment is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work both in a laboratory and field environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong project management skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel within the United States as needed.
